Oh my goodness, I am so excited to finally share this post (and these pictures)! Beware – it’s going to be very long. 😀 Most of you had no idea I was in a relationship, which was my intent – I was planning to surprise everyone if I got engaged! I am very, VERY happy to announce that I am indeed going to be married to the love of my life, Andrew Lewis. I couldn’t be happier and I can’t wait to share our story!
Andrew and I met nearly six months ago through mutual friends. He is from Missouri, and one of my granddad’s old-time friends actually goes to his church and told him about me. He then talked with my dad for a month or so and eventually, drove out to meet me! It was 6 days after we met that we were in a relationship. We saw each other three more times, video-chatted every weekend, and exchanged bazillions of emails. When he came out for Thanksgiving, I had a hunch he would pop the question – and sure enough, he did!
When Andrew came out to see me in October, he unofficially asked my parents for my hand in marriage. After receiving a yes, he then began planning his proposal. Somehow, he got my best friend’s blog, contacted her, and the next month and a half, they were planning it together! Andrew wanted to propose on my family’s farm because he knew that would mean the most to me – but he also knew that it mean the world if Allison was there. I had thought about how neat it would be if she could be there for the proposal, but I never thought very hard about it because I thought it would be impossible!
On Thanksgiving morning, Andrew and I had already planned to go on a walk and take pictures. We walked briskly down the driveway, and then once we got to the bottom of my drive, Andrew went down on one knee, pulled out a book called Becoming Mrs. Lewis, opened it, and in it was the ring. “Aria,” he said, “Will you marry me?”
As you all could guess, I SAID YES and after he put on the ring, we hugged – for the very first time. And then I heard rustling and a scream as Allison ran out of the woods where she’d been taking pictures, and Andrew’s best friend Fleet had been taking video!
After we all finished hugging and exclaiming, Allison took my camera, Andrew took my hand, and we did an impromptu photoshoot. I am so happy we did a photoshoot right after we got engaged! It’s one of the top things I recommend when I shoot proposals, because the smiles are SO fresh! Our faces just radiated happiness.
But wait, there’s more! That same evening, Andrew and I took our friends and took our official fancy engagement pictures! Allison and Fleet did a wonderful job with out pictures and I’m so glad. It was so sweet of them and I absolutely adore our pictures!
