I am a hopeless romantic.
Perhaps it’s because of my own parents’ wonderful love story. He was from the middle of Canada – and she was in New England. They met through a matchmaker. (Fiddler on the Roof, anyone?) Four months after they met, having seen each other twice, he popped the question in the Calgary Tower.
And they married just four months later.
Sharing love stories is one of my favorite things about being a photographer.
It’s possibly the next best to having my own love story – which hasn’t happened yet. Every couple’s story is unique. Every story is beautiful. Some are simple. Some are complicated. Some are short. Some are long. Whatever your story is like, it is important to me.
One of my favorite things to do is to sit on the couch with my mom’s old scrapbook in hand, and page through the pictures of her and my dad. Even my brother likes to look at them. There’s something so special about looking at your parents. My mom had permed blonde hair. My dad obviously wasn’t giving up his 90s’ clothing.
But they’re precious to me.
And I pull out another scrapbook, a smaller one. The pictures are older. My grandparents.
Up on the shelf a picture is framed. This time, the picture is in black-and-white. My great-grandparents.
Passing down a legacy of love is one of the best gifts you can give your children.
My parents passed down a legacy of love. We have three generations of pictures. Do you have a legacy of love?
If you don’t, create one.

The Couples Portrait Experience
Once we set the date for your shoot, I’ll send you a style guide. This will include some tips and tricks for coordinating outfits that will look amazing on camera. We’ll choose a location – (nature, rural, urban?) and the time (2 hours before sunset is when the light is dreamiest and flattering).
At your shoot, we’ll start with easy, natural poses to get you warmed up. Trust me – you don’t need any modeling experience! I’ll coach you through all the most flattering poses where you look your best. You and your spouse get to wear 2 outfits you’ve coordinated – maybe one casual, everyday, and one stunning formal?
Once we’re done, you’ll get a sneak peek of your pics in just three days. I’ll retouch your photos, making minor corrections on light and contrast (no Photoshopped-looking white teeth, I promise!) and format them. Then I’ll put them in a Pinterest-style gallery and send you your pictures within two weeks. They’ll be at your disposal to use however you please – 30 pictures from the shoot, no watermarks. You can download them, print them, and share with friends.
