Today my great-grandmother turns 90! We celebrated her birthday last week with a party my mom and I had planned for many weeks in advance. We spent so much time and effort in making a special party for her and she loved it. In fact, she cried the first half hour! I’m so excited to show y’all the pictures – it was really lovely, and I think we all have a special memory of Grandma and her 90th birthday party.
A couple weekends ago, my dear friend Allison came and stayed with me at my house! It was wonderful since I’ve been to her farm – so I got to be hostess and show her my farm! We stuffed our faces with food and relaxed (went to my favorite restaurant Fig in Biltmore Village) and it was lovely getting to see each other again.
Y’all, today I’m introducing to you a real #bosslady – Crystal Linville, the fabulous hairstylist and owner of the Atrium Salon here in Asheville! She’s the one who fixed a horrible bob I got when I was 4 or 5, who cut my hair when I made the decision to take off 16 inches, and who fixed a peroxide highlight job I did on myself. (Don’t ask…long story.) We have quite the history! 🙂
Hannah is a good friend of mine, and guess what – she’s also a photographer! The funny thing is, we both became friends years ago, before either of us were interested in photography. Then, at around the same time, we both launched our businesses! Hannah invited me out to coffee for my birthday last week, and I very much enjoyed getting to visit with her and talk shop. 😉
I met lovely Carol when I started to get facials at a nearby medical spa. Carol was one of the aestheticians and she gave me several wonderful facials. As we got to know each other, and I found out she hadn’t had family photos done in years (like TEN, seriously!), we decided she really needed some. Noah, her eldest, just finished his freshman year in college, and Ben just finished his senior year in high school. New photos were a must before any more big changes happened!
When we went up to Allison’s, I offered to do her family’s photos to thank them for letting us come and stay. I’m so glad I did because not only does her family have updated photos now, but I got to spend more time with them. ☺ It was SO HOT and we were all, unfortunately, dripping with sweat, but her parents and siblings were as chill as can be and were just NATURALS in front of the camera. They were the crowning glory of photo subjects!
Allison and I have an unusual friendship. We’re best friends, and yet we live over three hundred miles apart. “What’s so unusual about that?” you might ask. That in and of itself is not out of the ordinary; many best friends have had to move away from each other and keep up their friendship long-distance. What makes our friendship unique is that neither of us had to move away: in fact, we became best friends before we had even met each other in real life.
I have been taking some photography courses recently and so naturally I wanted to put into play some posing methods I’d been learning when Miss Hannah came over. She was the perfect model to practice on!
Last year, I had the opportunity to work with BRO for the first time! Blue Ridge Orthodontics did my braces several years ago, and now my brother goes. I did a shoot for Dr. Roberts’ daughter Emma, and later last year I went and took all of BRO’s new photos! They built a new building and redid their website and wanted updated photos for a fresh look.
Wow! I think this is the LONGEST post on this blog! There are a TON of pictures, so kudos to you if you make it to the end!
